In addition to a bunch of closed Friday's losing trades, I have quite a few left open over the weekend, as seen in the screenshot below. As we wait for the Monday opening, let's play a small guessing game as to their eventual fate. Will USD open higher or lower across the board next week, in your opinion? Why do you think so?

Here the same...

If we are playing the guessing game.... I'd say they will hit the SL. the momentum didn't sustain it self after the initial 30 mins... so my guess is, the market will hit the SL.

btanalysis, you will have your trades closed in profit tomorrow. How do I know? The big USD 15-minute bar which led to the buy signal had a proportionally higher volume than the smaller bar which preceeded it. However, if the big bar had a smaller volume than the preceeding smaller bar (like what happened on January 15 on USDCHF - see my screenshot below), you would be screwed.

A breakout is not a breakout if it's not substantiated by volume. Unfortunately, this EA does not account for the volume of the bar which leads to a trade. I wrote to the vendor about it but that's about as much as I could do.

Have a drink, relax, and enjoy the rest of your Easter weekend. :)

Those remaining open trades have indeed just closed in net profit on my account. It's a pity that 'Jared' no longer takes part in the discussion of his product here.

Yet that's how it does you on a pseudo-breakout with a dropping volume - first you get slipped, then hammered on the immediate correction..

I feel one of those might be coming again as soon as this Thursday or next Tuesday (or when it is that Greece will finally incur a 'credit event' as they like to call it).

I'm flat and turned off Keltner at least until the hot mess with the Euro is somewhat over.
My feelings are until Greece comes clean with a plan, that risk in forex is flapping in the wind like a bed sheet on a clothes line.

Then you might have to keep the bot off at least until June.

Yes that's 100% true. I am prepared to keep it of at least until June and even beyond June.
My apprehension is that there will be bad news over a weekend and with banks trading 24/7 it is possible to be caught out on the wrong side, or worse, not have an LP side left like the SNB contagion. It does seem the EU uses weekends to bring about all the spoilers, elections, bad news, threats etc etc. But then again everything could be fine. I just don't know so I will error on the side of caution and bow out for a while. This risk is not normal.

It's just that this bot does not account for bar volumes and opens trades on pseudo-breaukouts. I wrote to the vendor about it and offered him my help with fixing it but he asked me for money in response, wtf.

forexstriker: Please don't misconstrue facts to people. You asked for source code. I'm sorry but I'm not giving it away for free. End of story. The only way I would have been inclined to accept your help and offer you the code for free would have been based on trust, which clearly has been lost.

Have you tried to implement a volume filter in your EA and run some back tests to see if it makes any difference?

I need neither your source code nor your trust. Implement the bar volume filter yourself before your second live account is blown and you have to delete its statement from MyFXBook again.

A backtest won't make any difference - it implies absolute liquidity and provides no bar volume data.

That sure as hell will be hard for him after this live test follows suit of his other blown live account because of his inaction with implementing the suggested bar volume filter.

If it isnt broken, dont fix it! This strategy works PERFECTLY well, and does not need to be curve fit for any more data thank you very much. You just need to have a bit of patience I think as do I and let the trades come to you! It has solid MM on a short term strategy, that is quite hard to come by if you ask me.

I agree, it's the over leveraging that's killing people and they don't get that.

How exactly could reduced leverage (even as low as 1:1) save the bot after it entered a trade on that USDCHF pseudo-breakout on January 15 following the SNB peg removal? And what does accounting for the bar volumes have to do with curve fitting?

Jared, can you just fix it yourself and release an update for your customers?

I'm having losses with your EA lately, identical to your own live account. I don't know what their cause is. Every time there's a breakout, the EA opens a trade or two, then the price reverses, and the trades close in a loss. 😞
