Euro Area Retail Sales MoM
Retail sales in the Eurozone indicates the progression of the overall number of products sold. A total of 39.3% of these items are food, beverages, and tobacco, followed by electrical goods and furniture (12%), computer equipment, textbooks, and other (11.4%), pharmaceutical and medical products (9.9%), textiles, apparel and footwear (9.2%), vehicle fuel (9.1%), miscellaneous non-food items (6%), and mail orders and internet (2.9%). Germany has the largest weight (25.9%) among the countries, followed by France (21.7%), Italy (16.1%), and Spain (11.4%). The other countries are the Netherlands (5.2%), Belgium (4.3%), Greece (3%), Austria (2.8%), Portugal (2.4%), Finland (1.8%), Ireland (1.7%), Luxembourg (0.8%), Slovakia (0.8%), Slovenia (0.6%), Lithuania (0.4%), Latvia (0.3%), Cyprus (0.3%), Estonia (0.2%), and Malta (0.1%).
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.
