Germany ZEW Economic Sentiment Index
Economic sentiment in Germany is measured by the ZEW Economic Sentiment Index, which measures how optimistic economists are about the economy's prospects for the next six months in Germany. A total of 350 financial and economic professionals are expected to participate in the study. The index is calculated as the difference between the percentage share of analysts who are optimistic about the growth of the economy and the percentage share of analysts who are pessimistic about the growth of the economy, respectively. As a result, the ZEW index gauges confidence on a scale ranging from -100 (all analysts anticipate the economy to decline) to 100 (all analysts expect the economy to improve). A 0 value implies that the situation is neutral.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.

Eurozone Growth Outlook Downgraded; Disinflation To Proceed More Swiftly: EU

Eurozone Trade Surplus Surges On Exports To US
The euro area trade surplus grew strongly in March as exports to the U.S increased sharply ahead of the expected increase in trade tariffs. The trade balance showed a surplus of EUR 36.8 billion compared to a EUR 22.8 billion surplus in the same period last year, Eurostat reported Friday.

Eurozone GDP Expands 0.3% In Q1; Employment Growth Improves
Euro area economic growth accelerated less than estimated in the first quarter and employment logged a faster increase, flash estimate from Eurostat showed on Thursday. Gross domestic product expanded 0.3 percent on a quarterly basis, which was revised down from the 0.4 percent growth estimated on April 30. This followed the fourth quarter's 0.2 percent expansion.
