Ghana Stanbic Bank Ghana PMI
Data for the Stanbic Bank Ghana Purchasing Managers Index is compiled from responses to questionnaires sent to purchasing executives in approximately 400 private firms, which have been specifically chosen to efficiently reflect the true structure of Ghana's economy, which includes agricultural production, construction, industry, and service provision as well as wholesale and retail sales. The panel is divided into groups based on the GDP and the size of the company's staff. Based on data obtained in the middle of the month, survey results reflect any differences between the current month and the prior month. The index is based on five unique sub-components, each of which is weighted differently. The weights are as follows: New Orders (30%), Output (25%), Employment (20%), Suppliers Delivery Times (15%), Stock of Items Purchased (10%), with the Suppliers Delivery Times sub-component reversed so that it goes in the same direction.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the GHS while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the GHS.
