Malaysia Inflation Rate YoY
The consumer price index in Malaysia is dominated by two categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages (30% of the total weight), and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (23% of total weight). Transportation (15%), communication (6%), recreation and culture (5%), and furnishings, domestic equipment, and basic household maintenance (4%) are other categories included in the index. Restaurants and hotels account for 3.2% of the total, with miscellaneous products and services accounting for 6.3% are the remaining components.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the MYR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the MYR.
