Malta GDP Growth Rate YoY
Since Malta has a low-cost environment and a favorable tax structure, the country's economy is reliant on foreign trade (acting as a freight trans-shipment point), electronics and textile manufacture, tourism, and financial services. On the spending side, household consumption is the most important component of GDP, accounting for 55% of total use, followed by government expenditure (20%), and gross fixed capital formation (19%). Exports of goods and services stand for 149% of total GDP, while imports account for 143%, contributing 6% of total GDP.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.
