Portugal Balance of Trade
Compared to the previous year, Portugal's trade imbalance climbed by 23.4 percent, reaching EUR 13.8 billion in 2017. This is the largest growth in the country's trade since 2011. Imports surged by 12.5%, the highest level since 2010, while exports increased at a lesser rate of 10.1%, the highest level since 2011. The countries with the largest trade imbalances were Spain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, and China, while the countries with the largest trade surpluses were the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.
