Russia's consumer price index has two major categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages (30% of the overall weight), and transportation (14% of the total weight). Clothing and footwear (11%), housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (11%), recreation and cultural activities (6%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco goods (6%), and household appliances (6%) are also included in the index (6%). 16% of the total weight is accounted for by the following sectors: health, communication, education, hotels, restaurants, and other products and services.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the RUB while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the RUB.
