In the United Kingdom, the Nationwide house price index serves as a barometer of housing market changes. The index is calculated using owner-occupier mortgage-financed home purchase transactions. Purchases for resale and cash purchases are excluded.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the GBP while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the GBP.

UK Jobless Rate Rises, Wage Growth Remains High
The UK unemployment rate rose slightly in the third quarter and wage growth remained high but falling vacancies suggests a decrease in pay pressures, official data showed on Tuesday.
