Australia Exports MoM
Australia is a big exporter of commodities due to its abundance of natural resources. Metallic ores and scrap metal contribute for 29% of total exports, coal, coke, and briquettes account for 15%, and natural gas accounts for 7%. Australia also exports food and live animals (14%) with meat (5%) and cereal (4%) being the main exports in this sector; manufactured products (6%), mostly non-ferrous metals (4%); and machinery and transport equipment (6%). China is Australia's most important export market (accounting for 32% of overall exports), followed by Japan (16%), South Korea (7%), the United States (5%), India (4%), New Zealand (3%), Singapore (3%), and Taiwan (3%).
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the AUD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the AUD.

Australia Holds Key Rate At 12-Year High
The Reserve Bank of Australia left its benchmark interest rates unchanged at a 12-year high for a fourth straight meeting, as widely expected, on Tuesday. The policy board of the RBA, led by Governor Michele Bullock, decided to maintain the cash rate target at 4.35 percent. The board also retained the interest rate paid on Exchange Settlement balances at 4.25 percent.
