Low time frame trading vs. High time frame trading.

@DRFXTRADING By the way, the reason why I didn't look at https://www.myfxbook.com/members/DRFXTRADING/swing-trading-part-1/1079693 after checking your profile was because it is a DEMO ACCOUNT! Demo accounts should clearly be ignored by anyone who is looking for someone to manage their accounts. Why is that? Well because a Pilot has tons of simulation experience, but would you feel comfortable with having him pilot a plane with your family on board if he has only flown simulation?

By using the smaller TF, it gives you the ability to earn much more pips then what the daily range of the currency pair was. Clearly you have failed at trading the lower tf, but that is only because of your "patients" notion, which doesn't apply to price action. Price action, creates everything you see on the higher tf, and since you ignored it on the lower tf, it caused you to drain your account over just a few days, with very small risk per pip. As for stop losses, the reality is swing traders look at stop losses much differently then scalpers do. Take myself for instance. 40...

You speak about "impatience" but look what having "patience" did to your account...http://www.myfxbook.com/files/HolyGrailPTY/explain.PNG You were willing to lose 60% of your account on a position and hold it for days on in. That my friend is lack of discipline in accepting a loss. Patients isn't something which determines the price of a currency. Having "patients" can lead to profits most times, but look at what it does eventually! I'd love to hear your argument for those positions.

It is very easy to speak about a position once it has developed, but those long candles which you see, are based on current events. Current events which no one could have the results of prior, which also goes against the sentiment of the hurd. All in all you WOULD of made 150 pips by holding, but on the lower tf you would of made more pips, and positioning your self better based on your bias of what you see on the higher tf.

The higher the TF, the less accurate your entries will be. The patients which most of you are referring to isn't holding profit, but holding losses and waiting for the position to come back to you. It clearly is evident by the amount of time you spend in a position, and the ratio of the pips you are in red, compared to the pips you take profit.

As the account continues to grow, the fact remains that the market trades with very strick patterns. These patterns are created with by price action, and has nothing to do with what "herd traders" know as "support or resistance". Most of the time in which a currency trades, is far away from support and resistance, and the "noise" people mention is the price action which ends up shifting the price towards pivots (resistance and support). I personally take profit at pivots, instead of entering positions at them. Reason being is that once the price touches any give...

It's always easy to say something ÄFTER the fact. Why don't you upload an account and show us your ability to profit from being able to identify a false breakout PRIOR.

The purpose of this thread was to share charts which speak about high probability formations. The sad reality is that people rather follow then learn, or be pessimistic about making profit in forex. Giving people advice like "Watch out for false breakouts" doesn't help anyone earn money, as a false breakout can never be identified before it happens.

Of course you won't be able to see anything because looking at the nose dives your account always takes, itis clear to see that you have a hit and miss system, and you don't aim for accuracy as I do!

I would agree that if you have more accounts, and those accounts protect the proceding one then you run a higher chance to have net profit daily, compared to have all the funds in one account. Of course, money management plays a role in how you use those accounts. Yet if you have a system which is built on accuracy, then using say 10 accounts would be much wiser then having a tilt monkey trader who has a floating losses, and puts a big lot size to recover the loss.

I really would like to thank all of you for posting useless banter on this thread. The purpose of this thread was to speak about trading formations, and not theory based on someone's belief of what has happened to them will happen to me. Many people stride for longevity, when the reality is that goal isn't something which is realistically obtainable. Even if it were, the reality is not blowing your account in 4 years, but never having withdrawn or even been in profit, within that same amount of time makes the "longevity" claim pointless. If I take a trade and close in profi...

Thank you very much for the advice. I take it that your advice is being passed on to me, based on your personal failures. 3-4% profit on 5 pips, should be acceptable as long as you are willing to risk the same amount. Many people risk 1000% less per 3-4% and still manage to blow their accounts. The system which one trades is much more important then money management.

Hello everyone, I have been paper trading for some time now, and I have finally gone live today. I would like to use this thread to speak some of the formations which I trade and why I do so... Have a look at this formation below...http://www.myfxbook.com/files/HolyGrailPTY/shoe.PNG Doesn't it look like "Italy" ? The move down creates what looks like a "leg" and the accumulation prior to NY market close makes what looks like a "foot". Now if you find the same formation on your 5m or 15m of any pair, what happens next?

I would agree with your comment sir. It appears that adding to the "trend" is very dangerous, because the TREND can change at anytime, and of course it would be best spotted on the lower tf. EU 1.3999 to 1.04 drop took more then 12 months to occur, but prior to that it was in a clear uptrend from 1.15 to 1.39 Many people were longing EU as it dropped from 1.39 to 1.04 because they were following the trend it had ( which was up) and we all saw the blood bath which occurred in the process. None the less, no matter what the market is doing, trending or flat, we see the same formations d...
