Consumption of food and non-alcoholic beverages accounts for 43.6% of total weight, followed by housing and utilities, water, electricity, gas, and other utilities (9.5%), and clothing and footwear (8.9%) are the main sectors in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Ghana. In terms of percentage of the total index, transportation accounts for 7.2%, miscellaneous goods, and services account for 7%, hotels, cafes, and restaurants account for 6%, and furnishings and household equipment account for 4.6%. In addition, education accounts for 3.8% of overall weight, with recreation and culture accounting for 2.7% and communication accounting for 2.6%. The remaining 2.4% is accounted for health, and 1.6% is accounted for by alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and illicit drugs.
