And here's my mean return, between these two I can pinpoint the change closely, 21-22 Aug the market started trending. http://www.myfxbook.com/files/theHand/Screen_Shot_20150829_at_3.55.18_PM.pngIt will recover in due course when the markets return to ranges. Then the trending one will flatline again. And so it goes. Just keep making sure you have systems running for both markets and that way you won't have to do threads like these. Regardless of the loss here, I'm up 30% net in 2 weeks. Position building systems don't build positions in mean return markets, but they are frust...

We're in trending markets. Mean return systems will fail. All my position building systems have literally exploded. You should try have both in the market at all times. There are really only two systems you can do, regardless of how you do it. You can see below exactly where the trending started here. That was a very unusual event. Doesn't happen often.

@Rainfall0204 Well - the age would explain the lack of punctuation and why you're so oblivious to what can happen here.In 1929 the world didn't end either, but it was followed by the greatest conflict this planet has seen to date (well, someone used nukes on this planet 10 000 years ago, but that's a different discussion I think). Hundreds of millions died. The only reason the world didn't end was because Germany was beaten before they got the A-bomb. Yeah ? Commodity crash, dollar surging, sky high stock markets, no fundamentals to support it, 12% equity swings on the day (never seen volatility like that) , trillions of debt extra since the last event. Looks awfully familiar to me... Not saying it's going to be this Sept, however it can't be very far away either. All is not well, clearly. Take just one of those black boxes to go haywire and it all ends in tears.

Don't know where you should be, but I can tell you where you shouldn't be. Shares. Definitely not shares. This can only end in tears. When exactly I don't know, but I wouldn't like to be in when it does happen. Just a question of time now and the clock is ticking.

Still don't see why you'd need a global variable. Do the array of pairs, then do the arrays of data. The data is already stored, no need to send it to a global variable. Just call it with functions. iClose or iOpen or any of those will call historic data points.Only time I've ever had to use a global variable is if more than one EA is referencing data or I'm running more than 1 EA on an account. Obviously coding is like painting. It's a very individual thing and all methods are correct. Some might be prettier than others, but at the end of the day its still a painting. All ...

I agree with Ivan. You want to use a list of pairs, and lists are arrays. So lets say I want to go through a list of 2 pairs and do something, say print if the condition is met, it be something like this in Metatrader:string Symbols[2]={"EURUSD","GBPUSD"};for (int j = 0; j < ArraySize(Symbols); j++){ if (Symbol() == Symbols[j]){ Print ("Symbol is ", Symbols[j]); }}So in this example if you ran your code on a chart and Symbol() returns either EURUSD or GBPUSD it will print it. Viola. Working with a list. Expand at will....

@DrVodka Pfffttt, that guarantee not worth the paper it's written on, we saw that with MF Global insolvency. CME didn't honour any of their guarantees. It's been a while so I don't remember all the details but I wouldn't trust a guarantee from any source in current times. UK will change their tune just was fast when it suits them.

@kayz08 Just depends on who your broker is and what their business model is. There's no gaps in this market so the brokers are not at risk. Most of them anyway. Take out 30%, see how it goes.To me is this is normal stuff. Don't see anything to worry about. Your fist sign of trouble will be spreads that go wide and stay wide. Then you know there's a serious problem somewhere.

I doubt gold and silver will be much use as I pointed out earlier in the thread. Depends where you live really. If you're rich and buy a bunch of physical and store it in Singapore or Hong Kong, sure. I certainly wouldn't bother with gold derivatives. Risk is just to high. Fx is actually a pretty good place to be for now. Just have to stay on your toes.

There are really no answers to what's coming. If it was only a simple market crash I'd be so happy. But this is going to be something else entirely. Not seen in human history I think...All we can do is hedge the bets. Distribute risk across as many things as we can think off. If we get real lucky it's a decade or two of deflation.

@kayzBitcoin is on smartphones now days. The protocal is actually written into HTML 5 as far as I know. So it's just a question of time before it's browser to browser. Won't be long before it's everywhere I think. Seemless NFC transactions, that kind of thing. Swipe your phone at the till. People do it already. ATM rollouts continue rather haphazardly. Google for one near you, see if its made it yet, if not, well there's a business oppertunity for you. Look, Bitcoin is a very interesting solution to a very serious problem. Ja - I don't have my family fortune in it, but...
