Hi Paladin,

Can I ask you how did you configure your RP EA? You seem to have much better performances that their demo account.
Particularly the last two months.

Thanks for you help.

Hi wip,

hmmm, I know that name ... you've posted in my main thread on the FRP EA forum, right?

My EA is set up as follows:
all 12 recommended pairs with all 4 strategies, AvoidNews=true, Risk_percent=5.0; all other settings on default.

Of course it's running 24/5, whenever market is open.
I run it on my PC at home (which I never switch off anyway), not on a VPS.

Cheers,
P.

That is correct !! Also posted on the RP EA website good memory !

So I have the exact same setting as you only on a VPS. But in I did 6% last month and you did more than 8%...
Worst in October I lost 14% and you lost less than 2%... how did you avoid the storm ? the RP demo account also took a bit hit :(

I'm a pepperstone ECN account.

Hey wip,

well, yours is a live account, mine's a demo ... so I don't have slippage and/or execution delay.

Although I'm not really convinced by the argument, I have been told that Asian scalper EAs show large differences on real and demo accounts, due to being very sensitive to slippage/execution issues.

I have not had much experience with EAs (in fact, this is the first one I have ever tested), as I have to this point always preferred to trade manually ... so I don't know how accurate the allegation is.

But if you check out the vendors' two Pepperstone accounts ... they have done rather well, too.

By the way: nice start into December; the EA took six trades yesterday, for a total gain of 1.01%.

From my experience with v5.xx so far, this EA has periods where it doesn't perform so well.
It usually makes up for those DDs in time though.
As Adrian and Catalin keep pointing out, this EA has been designed for long-term profitability, so temporary drawdowns are to be expected.

I hope you'll continue using it, despite being down some 11% at the moment, because it gives both of us the opportunity to compare live account / demo account performance.
I also hope it'll soon reap some profits for you.

Cheers,
P.

P.S.: In October I still used v5.28 ... I only changed to v6.06 on 4 Nov.

Wow, I just had a closer look at your October stats ... ouch. :(

Are you sure you have AvoidNews=true?
I think this EA really hates news time.

Ha yeah !! Ouch is the word!
But partly my fault because for the biggest DD I panicked and adjusted the SL which I should not have done :D

But I agree it's a long term objective for me as well and I'm absolutely going to keep it running. I had a smaller amount on the account before and it performed extremely well (+20% in 3 months). I hope to get close to break even by the end of the year and let it run next year.

Best,

Wip

Good decision, I think.
This EA will make you some money, if you give it enough time.

I've been tempted to manually change S/L or close a position, too ... but have never done it, because I wanted to evaluate it as precisely as possible.

Hehe, that's easier with a demo account, of course, than watching real money being lost.

Cheers,
P.
