I used to follow random signals and call that a plan. Then I would panic as soon as the trade went a little red. I fixed it by sticking to one simple idea I understood and only taking trades that fit it. Once I did that, everything felt good.

From my live trading, the biggest risk during NFP or CPI isn’t direction, it’s execution.Spreads and slippage can break a good setup fast. That’s why I either cut size heavily or stay out until price settles.

Even if it’s real, it’s not something I would personally follow. Returns in the thousands of percent usually come with extremely high risk, and that kind of exposure can just as easily lead to large losses and deep drawdowns when conditions change. For me, that’s a pass.

cutting down on the number of trades is sage advice for any trader. We often feel the urge to try one more time to lock in profits but fighting the urge takes real discipline. I tend to sit out a lot if I don't see a valid setup. Forcing trades never ends well. Just a few trades with a refined technique will keep your account green in the long run.

Agree with the point about the improving risk appetite. But I feel it also depends on the potential reward. Emerging market currencies are often the part of exotic pairs. Highly volatile but works well for those who figure it out. Still it's too early to say how this will play out in the long term. If these developing economies prosper, it will also reflect in the forex market.

Really appreciate this post. Knowing these basics is one thing but many newbies still get confused when it comes to live calculations. Thankfully many brokers and platforms have added free tools like automated pip calculators and profit calculators. Makes the calculations a lot easier and faster. Especially with all decimal points involved, it is easy to miscalculate and such tools help a lot.
