Euro Area Inflation Rate YoY
The inflation rate in the Euro Area is derived by taking a weighted average of the aggregates of the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). The following are the primary components of the HICP: services (41%), non-energy industrial goods (29%), food, alcohol, and tobacco (19% of the overall weight), and energy (11%). The HICP aggregates are calculated by taking the weighted average of each country's HICP components and averaging them together. The weight of a country is the proportion of final monetary consumption expenditure incurred by households in the country's group that it represents. HICPs are provided to Eurostat by National Statistical Institutes (NSIs).
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.

German Unemployment Rises Less Than Forecast
German unemployment increased less than expected in November despite companies reporting job cuts, figures from the Federal Employment Agency revealed Friday. Eurozone economic confidence rose unexpectedly in November on improving sentiment among industrial managers and retailers, survey results from the European Commission revealed on Thursday.
