Euro Area Inflation Rate YoY
The inflation rate in the Euro Area is derived by taking a weighted average of the aggregates of the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). The following are the primary components of the HICP: services (41%), non-energy industrial goods (29%), food, alcohol, and tobacco (19% of the overall weight), and energy (11%). The HICP aggregates are calculated by taking the weighted average of each country's HICP components and averaging them together. The weight of a country is the proportion of final monetary consumption expenditure incurred by households in the country's group that it represents. HICPs are provided to Eurostat by National Statistical Institutes (NSIs).

French Inflation Cools; Economy Expands As Estimated
France's consumer price inflation softened in August on weaker growth in transport costs and the economy logged a faster growth as estimated in the second quarter, official data revealed Friday.
