Euro Area ZEW Economic Sentiment Index
The amount of optimism that analysts have about the projected economic developments over the next 6 months in the Euro Area is evaluated by the ZEW Economic Sentiment Index. A total of 350 financial and economic professionals participate in the research. When calculating the index, the difference between the percentage share of economists who are optimistic about the development of the economy and the percentage share of economists who are pessimistic is taken into account. As a result, the ZEW index gauges confidence on a scale ranging from -100 (all analysts predict the economy to suffer) to 100 (all analysts believe the economy will strengthen). A 0 value indicates that the scenario is neutral.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.

Eurozone Inflation Steady At 2% ECB Target
Euro area consumer price inflation was unchanged at the European Central Bank's 2 percent target in July, easing the pressure for more easing. The harmonized index of consumer prices increased 2.0 percent year-on-year in July, the same rate of increase as seen in June. Inflation was forecast to ease marginally to 1.9 percent.

Eurozone Manufacturing Activity Moves Closer To Stagnation
The euro area manufacturing activity registered a broad stabilization in July as output continued to increase despite a fresh fall in new orders, purchasing managers' survey compiled by S&P Global showed on Friday. The HCOB final manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index rose to a three-year high of 49.8 in July from 49.5 in June. The score matched the flash estimate.

German Unemployment Rises In July
Germany's unemployment increased less than expected in July but the overall number of people out of work remained close to the 3 million mark due to the prolonged period of economic slowdown, official data revealed on Thursday. The number of unemployed rose by less-than-expected 2,000 from June, the Federal Employment Agency said. For July, economists had forecast an increase of 15,000.
