Switzerland Balance of Trade
With both imports and exports reaching new highs amid global trade tensions, Brexit uncertainty, and Hong Kong demonstrations, in 2019 the Swiss trade surplus increased by 19% from the previous year to CHF 37 billion. The largest trade surpluses were recorded with the United States, India, the United Kingdom, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore, the largest trade deficits were recorded with the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Thailand.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the CHF while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the CHF.
