Using news filter to pause EA.

Check the spreads. Spread always widens just before news and narrows after most of the impact is gone. If anything of significance hits the market, long before it's news, you will see it in the spreads.

There is no way you can average hundreds of pips per month

A pair on average does about 25 000 to 45 000 value changes per pair per day.
