METHOD OR DISCIPLINE?
in
General
Dec 04, 2021 at 22:56
Discipline matters more on the market, however traders shouldn't underestimate the affection of methods on their trading activity. Of course, discipline is the foundation of any kind of trading system/strategy. If you have no discipline then perhaps you won't be succeeded in trading. The vast majority of traders prohibits this discipline and it leads to unpleasant consequences. In my opinion, if traders want to be successful then they have to learn how to comply with discipline. Only then they can think about methods. This Guy is definitely spot on.Sorry,,, Phyllis could be a she.Sorry ...

Trading Spot Gold XAUUSD is the same as trading any other pair in principle. But each pair has its own characteristics, which you obviously have to learn.Gold is no exception, being heavily dollar/news and fundamentally driven. I trade Spot gold using Repeat Pattern recognition ,Technicals, whilst closely watching news releases throughout the day.

Every trade that you make has to haveA defined entry,in my case i average in.A defined exit.and a stop, ( this stop is your learning curve) because the way i trade there is probably a secondary trade, But.But in three words.

Unless you have a 1.Winning strategy / edge ( % win in the long run in your favour) 2.Money management in place (under your strategy)3.Pair or pairs you trade constantly, and you watch and know how those pairs charts are painted on your chosen time frame ( under your strategy)4.Trading hours to suit the pairs you trade ( under your strategy)5.You NO exactly what news is coming out, and at what time that will affect your trade (obviously under your strategy)Then the amount of Margin/capital/cash a beginner puts up is irrelevant.Unless he has 1-5 under his belt ,well his Buggered.

The best way to start as a beginner in my opinion, is pick the pair you wish to trade, and the timeframe you wish to trade it ---------And then watch, watch the big players painting the candles on the chart, and gain a feel of the market without adding any indicators, (boring i know)Read and digest the daily economic calendar before you start the day and watch what the news events coming out during the day does to your pair, it will teach you to stay away from certain news releases which may whip saw your trade .( don't trade over the major news)

As i am based in the Uk Timing plays a major part on the pair i trade, i trade XAUUSD from 1pm UK time when the US market opens on C-trader.I find the best hours for my trading are from 1pm UK - 4pm UK. possibly 12.30-4.30 pmIt sounds short hours but i do watch the UK open ,and the prep ( check the daily economic calendar) check whats going on in the world news + Bloomberg and Newsquawk.
