Today I got approximately +5% (in green), but at the same time I lost ~20 pips (in red). Initially I had taken wrong side of the trade (I was long), and then I shorted heavily after I had corrected my mistake. Well, in reality stop loss did that.. I am fascinated by the idea of using a lesser trade size as a probe. (Probe bet in poker?). Nevertheless, probably this is bad practice, and could cost me dearly on occasion.Money and percentages matter. After all.

Today I got 5 pips, which equals to 1.3% of account size. Holding time maybe 4-5 hrs. I was lucky.

I think a trader can be qualified as a pro trader if trading is if s/he can support living by trading as a a main source of income (of course that varies according to each country) I think somebody has said that already. Intelligent emotionless traders, INTJ variants,(look for Briggs-Myers personality theories), and women fare the best I've told myself.

As a rule of thumb my goal is to establish a trading system, whose monthly percentage gain is between 15% and 25%, daily ~1 %. Today I got 14 pips after 5 hr sitting in front of my laptop. I don't know if this is possible consistently, but we'll see. For each $50 I increase lot size by 0.01 lots. It seems that there are going to be days when the daily pips are in red but profits are in solid green.I guess this will be providing an emotional roller coaster for me for a couple of coming years. I have a very small account. By the way I threw all the nonsense of trading longer time frames ...

I think the greatest reason for its fall is that btc is not backed by any government. Probably it has enemies, too.. I think that bitcoin is on its death spiral down.

There is no one fits for all strategy, which beats the market all the times. Rather, a successful trader has learned a set of skills, which gives him/her an edge over the market. Indicators can be seen as tools, which can be applied to the currently prevailing market condition. If one uses trend trading methods in a ranging market, one is a loser for sure. What do you have.in your chart, Bollinger bands with several standard deviation levels? How do you prevent the situation, when the prices are shooting over (or through) 2 std level? I mean one can be short, and predict prices turning from long to short. Instead from turning bearish prices continue advancing inthe long direction, and shoots through std 2 level, which serves as a stop ordrevel. Got the idea? I found any GBP pair too unpredictable, Abut maybe Ij just didn't get something right.

WTF triggered the spike in all USD related currencies, at least GBPUSD, AUDUSD, and EURUSD. Could it be BREXIT really? I found no news,which explains that move.

For which kind of a strategy is that? I think for intraday trading that is a bit optimistic. Are you trading all of your hours outside of the bed?

This sh*t happens all the time in cryptos. Still, watching the weekly and daily shows that BTCUSD has been trading flat for some time. I've experienced that flat market is a recipe for a disaster, in any currency pair! Maybe XRPUSD would be a better alternative? At least it seems to be moving. TBH, I have no idea how to trade cryptos.

If you look at the daily chart of BTCUSD one can see that it is almost dead by now. No significant movements to any direction. In engineering language one can describe it as an exponential overshoot curve followed by attenuated oscillations (ringing). I wonder if this is a permanent situation?

Err.. Of course, I tried to say MT4 not MQL4. With terminal I mean the window just below the charting window. Maybe it would be good idea to close that terminal window, so it is out of mind how much in loss the Equity is :)

My suggestion is:In MQL4, after the position has been opened: Just close the terminal window, and don't open it before the exit criteria has been met :)That is the strategy for controlling emotions I am going (trying) to implement. Keep enough capital in your account so one unfortunate trade wont affect you.Trading with microlots can be rewarding, too. Like said, trading with 0.01 lots or even smaller.

Have you realised that the market has been stuck in a range a week ahead of NFP release? Again.. What do you do? Any currency pairs that usually don't get stuck before NFs?

There are none, simple as that. It is more like a principle, re-allocating assets, gaining less regarding CAGR, but gaining more monetarily because there is more capital. That must have been a rhetorical question, you should know it :) As you know, 5% annually is not impossible.

$10000 / montlhy is like being a well paid physician. If I had $200'000 I would forget retail forex, and I would go for trading stocks, invest for divident paying shares, trade futures, warrants and alike. I would definetely regard me as being 'rich', although in reality I would be 'just' wealthy.

Well, I think there are at least two different approaches to forex trading. What you (and Matt, at least) are referring to is trend or long term trading, which really requires more money. What I am most frequently talking about is day trading or scalping approach, which requires far less money, and can be done with much higher leverage, if executed properly.Short term approach is more time consuming, and has much less room for mistakes.If the account size increases the strategy must be altered, and money management rules changed.I agree with kieran, that if I had more money I would go for bigg...

I try to keep that in my mind. For me the big picture is the weekly time frame. If it is not trending, but ranging there is no trend trading methods applicable in the lower time frames.
