Major currency pairs are good for trading. I personally like both EURUSD and GBPUSD. Actually I only trade these two pairs. I do not like to trade many pairs. But between EURUSD and GBPUSD I like GBPUSD the more. It is a wise idea to select one or two pairs for trading. It gives you space to learn all the trading patterns of that single pair.
Market is in risk appetite mode due to Brexit negotiation and US stimulus package hopes.Last stimulus package was march and current stimulus package is 900 billion as less than half of the last package.
EUR/USD,GBP/USD,AUD/USD,NZD/USD are in strong gain due to US stimulus hopes and us poor job data and Fed chairman realizes that interest should be lower next few years. Thus USD is becoming weaker and without strong data fed will not changes it’s mind.So before this summer there is less chances that USD will be strong. But due to profit taking and brexit drama, dollar index may make some gain or correction in the near term.

Major currency pairs are best especially for new trader due to low spreads and volatility.

I am certainly of the opinion that trading one currency pair is far better than getting your mind split up in many different pairs. More so for a beginner. Trading too many pairs can get intimidating for newbies. Although it's been over 2 years of trading for me, I am only trading USDJPY. Returns are fine with 20% average monthly, the low commissions and spreads of gomarkets and fxview have been doing good for me. Only if I am able to maintain this consistency in profits for another year or 2 will I start trading another currency pair.

I personally like to trade GBPUSD mostly. Actually it is your choice. You have to find out which pair suits you. For a newbie it is better to choose a pair and do research on it. The process is you have to observe chart a lot. You will find some unique characteristics of every pair. Use those characteristics as your strength.

I prefer EURUSD. I find GBPUSD is more volatile than other major pair.
