what is the setting they are using ?
recovery mode is on ?
in fix lot size how can it make sell on cable?
or auto MM is greater then 0?

no it's not ,look at the lot size ,fixed ,do not increase after a loss...

I unpleasantly discovered the EA prevents a full backtest past 2008.

here is the answer i got while asking them the same question
Dear rob,
The trading logic of Volatility Factor is based on a market volatility, which is missing before 2008.
The Forex market is much more volatile after this period and we expect it to be even more volatile in future.
The system is also profitable before 2008, but not as profitable as after this.
We've noticed the market has become more volatile after 2008 and that's why we set this system for the period after 2008.
It would not be good to set the system for less volatile market, which existed before 2008, since the market will be more volatile in future. That's why we've disabled the backtesting before 2008.

it was cause of to much dd when it started and that was no good for the sales,still running 3.0 not bad so far,got a lot more trades and profit and dd as well
