Dear Amancio, let me nuance that a bit. Entry and exit are indeed important, but many accounts go bust having that right. It is important but by far not enough. Without using a disciplined proven and tested approach to risk (including lot sizing, win/loss ratio etc..) no one will succeed for many years in forex. This is the only thing I know for sure besides death and taxes.

I run all my trading thru VPS. I would be very surprised of anybody's home internet is more reliable than a professionally run VPS center. Keep in my this is there profession, keep servers running, as reliably as possible.Unless this is also your profession, and have the resources to buy the necessary hardware, a VPS is going to be more reliable.Yes, you can access it from anywhere.Yes, if they want to, they can see what you are doing. There is no 100% secrecy, that's the price to pay.

Thanks for the answers so far. @wortrader : are you suggesting metaquotes is a company that does not charge it's brokers? How does it pay its employees? Indeed a shame choice is so limited. Hey, maybe I should start a business creating an FX platform then.... Too bad I'm not really that familiar with the industry of trading platforms.. sounds like an opportunity. I'll stick to trading then.

I don't hear much talk about cTrader. I find the fact that it is C# programming particularly attractive. Does anybody have real experience programming and trading cTrader? Could you share some of your comments on that? Stable or buggy? Trade execution? Community of users/programmers using cTrader? If at some point I have to go thru the trouble of reprogramming my MT4 EA's/tools, I might as well do it in a more "standard" language like C# rather then going into mql5 again. I have never been a big fan of MQL5 anyway, I just program it because I feel I don't have much choic...

I checked all of the systems, but none have open history. Only the strategies are open for viewing, but this is just backtesting. In addition, the systems are all demo accounts. It is not because the cheese smells great, that there is no trap. I am staying far away from this until I see some reliable sources sharing experience about this. Have seen too much over the years....

Results look great indeed. Their website uses exactly the kind of sales techniques that I really don't like. Bla bla will make you rich, free money etc.. etc.. but no real info on how it trades. The forward test account is a good thing, but even history is blocked so does not give much information to comment on.I guess the only useful comments would then have to come from somebody actually using it.
How about "Live" trading?

there is nothing like experience, BUT I must admit that i find reading books, on trading or other topics, very inspirational. Many ideas have been triggered by reading trading books next to the swimming pool. I would agree simply applying the book theory does not work, but cutting ourselves off from more formally documented knowledge like books, would be a big loss.

as to my reaction to that is that I have not decided yet, I am currently looking at zorro and ninjatrader. I much prefer ninjatrader for programming and testing, but am concerned about the lack of fx brokers supporting it. In short, I have not decided yet.

Hi, well at least this is a verified account and so looks like a good attempt to sell the service without lying. On the other hand charging monthly fees even higher then the account balance does not inspire long term stability. Also, if you permit me, you seem to comment daily performance. There are different opinions about this, but I find it very dangerous to look at daily performance. Worrying about such short term performance is what gets people into "revenge trades" and trying to recover and that kind of bad trading habits. Would be interesting to see longer term how this does in ...

I'm not worried about all the development going to MT5. I am worried about broker costs for MT4 going up, meaning they will eventually drop it and forcing everybody to use MT5. I spent a large amount of time programming my EA's and tools in MT4, and really don't want to rework all that for MT5.
Prevent Discussion on System until Fully Verified

from the ideas on here so far 1)prevent discussion 2)huge warning 3)separate sections I like the separate sections most. It still give people the freedom to discuss systems if they want to, but it allows other "more serious" discussions to only be on verified accounts without too much waist of time.

Hi everybody, considering this opinion seems to go against the majority, I know I am taking a risk here, but here it goes:Why assume that every discussion is in the light of prospective customers? Have we forgotten that the orignal purpose of a social site was to allow to discuss with other people. I would not like it to prevent people from discussing just because there is a large number of people that indeed misuse it, and try to use it to gain customers. If you do not want to discuss non verified accounts, would simply not discussing them be enough? Another option would be to add a big fat w...
Best pairs to start?
in
New Traders
Jan 17, 2017 at 15:46
start by looking on the majors, preferable a pair that is influenced by the news of the region you live in. That way you can get a feel on how much certain news impacts the pair. It also avoids the temptation to stay up all night waiting for a news event at 3AM. Stay with 2 or 3 pairs for e few months to get e real feel for it, and also look at the interaction between these pairs. Don't bother with 15M and 1H charts ( at least not early on). D1 or even higher. My 2 cents...
Broker choice

Hi, before committing more serious amounts of money to a broker, I usually start small, and then make some small withdrawels to see if the withdrawel process is running smoothly. It is no guarantee, but apart from reading about brokers and exchanging experiences, I'm not sure what I can do more to choose a broker. I don't necessarily look for the lowest spread etc.., trustworthyness is more important to me.

I would say what makes you a gambler is how you trade, not the result. I'm sure there are successful fx gamblers out there (although far less then unsuccessful ones ).

How to calculate P/L?
in
General
Apr 20, 2015 at 06:38
it's good to know the value of 1 pip. In this case, assuming your account is in USD, $1. So yes, it's $28. But, this will not be the case with non US currencies. There is a good article explaining this on investopedia: http://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/06/pipandcurrencypair.asp

well, actually there are several published books that reference antimartingale. Fancy name just to say the principle is trade smaller when you are going down, and trade larger when going up. Opposite of what martingale does, so I guess that's why these authors call it antimartingale.

My own account easily trades within the required specs here. Although I don't want to divulge specifics on the money management, it is a more complex implementation of an anti-martingale type. This explains when market conditions are not great for my strategy, the account muddles around without losing too much, but takes off when I am having a winning streak. More profit with less risk for the more patient type, (of which there are very few I know I know..)https://www.myfxbook.com/members/growthera/robustreturn2020/951366
