The Taiwan stock market has tracked higher in back-to-back sessions, advancing almost 300 points or 1.5 percent along the way. The Taiwan Stock Exchange now sits just above the 20,850-point plateau although it may run out of steam on Tuesday.

The Singapore stock market has moved higher in three straight sessions, collecting almost 40 points or 1.2 percent in that span. The Straits Times Index now rests just above the 3,300-point plateau although it may open under pressure on Tuesday.

Producer prices in Japan were up 0.3 percent on month in April, the Bank of Japan said on Tuesday - accelerating from 0.2 percent in March.

The Malaysia stock market on Monday ended the three-day losing streak in which it had slipped just 5 points or 0.3 percent. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index now sits just above the 1,600-point plateau although it's likely to see renewed consolidation on Tuesday.
