The Singapore stock market inched higher again on Thursday, one day after ending the two-day winning streak in which it had collected almost 15 points or 0.5 percent. The Straits Times Index now rests just beneath the 3,325-point plateau although it's likely to head south again on Friday.

The Malaysia stock market has moved lower in five straight trading days, sinking more than 25 points or 1.6 percent along the way. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index now sits just beneath the 1,605-point plateau and it's expected to open under pressure again on Friday.

Industrial production in South Korea was up a seasonally adjusted 2.2 percent on month in April, Statistics Korea said on Friday.

The South Korea stock market has moved lower in three straight sessions, slumping almost 90 points or 3.4 percent along the way. The KOSPI now sits just above the 2,635-point plateau and it's expected to open to the downside again on Friday.

Japan is scheduled to release a batch of data on Friday, headlining a busy day for Asia-Pacific economic activity. On tap are April figures for unemployment, industrial production, retail sales, housing starts and construction orders, as well as May data for Tokyo-area inflation.
