The Taiwan stock market has moved higher in four straight sessions, gathering more than 480 points or 2.3 percent in that span. The Taiwan Stock Exchange now sits just above the 20,700-point plateau although investors are likely to cash in on Thursday.

The Singapore stock market has moved lower in two straight sessions, retreating almost 40 points or 1.2 percent along the way. The Straits Times Index now rests just above the 3,260-point plateau and it may extend its losses on Thursday.

South Korea had a current account surplus of $6.93 billion in March, the Bank of Korea said on Thursday.
