I owe you nothing.
And I don't know them. Quite right, but I do see they target forex, so that means they understand what you want to run and the value of it.
My point is avoid that, don't even consider it. But hey, whatever blows your hair back...

OMG!! VPSLand Sucks - Since I switched to ForexVPS (and am quite happy) - My VPSLand server went down and stayed down for DAYS!! - came up for a few minutes then went down again!! - came up for air then went down AGAIN!! and is still down even as I write this. Its basically been down for the past week almost non-stop. I just couldnt take it anymore and told them to kill the service - refund me for the rest of the month and pro-rate me the down days. They absolutely suck!! - If you're a client login to your server and goto speakeasy.net/speedtest and test the NY transfer speed. You'll be shocked!! - What's up with these guys? - are they on DSL? - Absolute worst speed, terrible VPS uptime but decent service. If you're with them you should get a site24x7 FREE account so you can be alerted by email when the service goes down - You'll need it!!! (its actually a good idea for everyone.) - Boy, am I glad I left these jerks!!

Unbelievable!! How can they stay in business with such a bad performance?
Thanks for the site 24/7.com hint. Good idea!
They collect new customers only ( who don't do their homework ). Even I gave them the benifit of the doubt - after all, how hard can it be to run a data center in one of the biggest data center centers in the US? If I were them ( and I m glad I m not ) I would find the best vps service and just white label the whole shebang.
nothing ventured nothing gained

As I am new to all this I just have one or two quick questions about VPS...
1) Can you pretty much do anything on the VPS that you can on your own computer? For instance back testing and so forth. I assume the answer is yes but, want to make sure. I've got an older (not ancient) computer and it takes a few hours to do 1 year back tests.
2) How much RAM is good for just one MT4 with an EA robot?
3) Do I need to put safety software on the VPS? Anti-Spy, Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware...
Thanks!

1) Yep, its just a remote computer so you can really do almost anything you want.
2) At least 512MB
3) No - Dont install any Anti-Virus. Most VPS services have network level protection installed. Just do not casually surf the web on your VPS. Play it very safe and surf only when absolutely needed - I only get on the web to access my email for executables I send to myself or to download platforms ONLY.

I am also using forexvps, and much satisfied.
I've put my MT4s in startup list, so incase of reboot, it should restat MT4s.
I am also running a notepad application, so that incase of reboot, this will not restart, and I'll check the reboot manually.
After all these measures, I've checked that it has never rebooted in the market hours, for the last 3 months.
I just manuall reboot it on sunday.
100% satisfied

Ummm... Putting programs in the startup folder DOES NOT restart them if the server reboots - This only loads them automatically ONCE YOU LOG-IN!! - To get the programs to restart if the server reboots they have to be a Windows service. I use AlwaysUP [http://www.coretechnologies.com/products/AlwaysUp/] - Very Easy, Very Sweet Software - I also have each platform set to restart every 24 hr to clear out MT4 memory leaks. (Kool option you should use if your EA can be restarted without forgetting any settings. Good EA's are built to withstand random reboot)

Hi,
I'm with CNS (Commercial Network Services) for almost three years now. If there is only one person using the server (3 - 4 metatrader plaforms at the same time), the value edition will be enough. If you want to have more metatrader platforms working at the same time and don't want your server to lag, you may need to upgrade to a standard edition with 2GB RAM (we share a server between 3 people 15 metatraders platforms working at the same time without any problems).
The support at CNS is great and answer your questions or requests almost immediatly. CNS does all the upgrades between friday at 5 pm (East) and sunday at 5 pm (East) to avoid any service cutoffs during the trading week.
Hope this helps.
@ CNS
since i set max bars on chart and history to 1000 i can run 7 platforms with 32 active EAs on the value edition and there is some RAM left for more platformes, bc i upgraded to 512 RAM. Time will tell how the execution performance looks😎
short update@CNS : just perfect since Nov.2009
