greetings
due to cost/profit ratio I changed my chart from 1 to 5 min.
when trading with 1 min sometimes it costs 1000 usd to make 100 usd profit. this weird. I guess I had completed the information what I need from 1min.
5 min slower I need to adapt that.
also coding some algos for my patterns and testing them on the same EA with different comments to identify.

greetings
I am currently adapting to 5 min chart. it is 5x slower then 1 min so it will take some time.
I now trade only in the zone means between upper fractal and lower fractal. the outside is "space" for me and there are no rules. price movements unpredictable.
also I fix my TP to 3 PIP and SL to 10 PIP.
tight SL is a problem. I had several times Stop Out <0.50 PIP. vice verse also happened.
also several time missed TP < 0.50 PIP.
so I will keep those fix for the time being.

why some of the patterns(trades) works well and some not.
the answer is Time. when I trade with 5 min chart and find a pattern that working well it may fail anytime. the reason is there are many different time frames and each trader including big ones banks and others are all using different time frames to trade according to their actual condition. this makes patterns or trades fails which used to work well.
Time must be in the function but I could not find the correct way to do it.

may be, but on 1 min they are not as reliable and it happens really fast. i do not like how 1 min charts look recently. far cry from say 2008-2009.

believe it or not. all time frames has same noise. it is the calculation of risk/reward when choosing time frame.

Steve, obviously noise is not same. check e/j, e/u and g/u for example. those were excellent shorting opportunities.
the problem it took so long to wait for those trades to come.

the reason I stop trading with with 1min is the cost.
when/if cost > profit it is meaningless. So as I had planned I switch to 5 min and reduce the cost.
when trading with 1 min cost was around 20x of profit. with 5 min now it changed to 1x. means equal.
cost = spread+comission

have look at that

R:R is important of course. but you forget about mental capital. I personally can day trade but would love to move away from it. stressful and takes lot of screen time. I am very active by nature hence I have been day trading.

The ultimate goal is to make money. The less efforts required the better and day trading is very high effort. i would love to move to swing trading. The ingredient that should be improved is patience cause I am experienced enough to know what to look for.
Reading watching now. My wife's exam is in the beginning of June and no screen time for me but at nights. Then I am trading 1 month demo and since July I will be live with myfxbook connected. I want to start swinging then.
BTW, Xenon, have you tried to swing trade?
