If anyone is interested I'm running the EA on an account that went through the storm pretty well! No manual actions on my part.

I think you have got profit because MT4 kitchen.
I see Alpari revert deals on that time, because no real market was.

I lost my 19k and should pay 26k as debt.
Thats hard! Sorry to hear! and that kind negates what I previously said, about having a small account size and be SL only by margin call.
I guess, trying to avoid the trade all together with checks on slippage/and insane moves is probably the way to go.

Keltner has a slip parameter, whether it's using or not is a different matter. Certainly it should introduce a spread check. That would have helped yesterday and I think should really be a standard feature in all EA's to prevent trades opening in situations like this.
With regards to Wildprofit. It depends on your broker whether they chase the loss or not. Some have T&C's that state the don't chase deficit accounts. I suggest you check yours. Even if it doesn't the chances of them successfully chasing you for it depends on your and there jurisdiction I guess.
Best regards Steve

You probably don't want to hear this at the moment but you should diversify your brokers. Although that said, Alpari won't be the last to go under. I'm hoping to get out with enough to cover my bills for the next 6 months. If I do better than that I'll be happy.
I'm experienced two attitudes from brokers at the moment.
1) You lost money - tough
2) You made money - ah no, see clause x.x.xx in our terms and conditions. We're reversing your trades.
I'm seriously contemplating setting up an online petition for a grass roots overhaul of the retail broker industry. In the last two years I've seen absolutely appalling treatment of customers from many brokers. They want their cake, to eat it and then to steal the cake recipe off you.
Best regards Steve

your right i should have used other brokers as well, but my thoughts were that Alpari being a uk broker and regulated by the F.S.A. would be the safest of the lot

it just shows though you think your money is safe and then something like this happens, i would think if it can happen to a company as big as Alpari it can happen to anyone
