U.S. Economic Growth Unexpectedly Slows To 1.5% In Q2
U.S. economic growth unexpectedly slowed in the second quarter of 2026, according to a report released by the Commerce Department on Thursday. The report said real gross domestic product jumped by 1.5 percent in the second quarter after surging by 2.1 percent in the first quarter. Economists had expected GDP to shoot up by 2.3 percent.

A report released by the Commerce Department on Friday showed new home sales in the U.S. rebounded in the month of June after falling sharply in the previous month. The Commerce Department said new home sales jumped by 1.6 percent to an annual rate of 628,000 in June after tumbling by 4.3 percent to a revised rate of 618,000 in May.

The report said initial jobless claims fell to 187,000, a decrease of 22,000 from the previous week's revised level of 209,000. Economists had expected jobless claims to rise to 212,000.
