DAX Slips On Growth Worries
(RTTNews) - German stocks traded lower on Friday amid concerns that higher interest rates could weigh on global growth.
Survey data released earlier today showed that business activity across Germany fell for the third month in a row in September amid a sustained decline in demand for goods and services.
The HCOB Composite PMI, compiled by S&P Global, rose to 46.2 in September from August's 39-month low of 44.6, but came in below forecasts for a score of 47.2.
Services activity decreased fractionally, while manufacturing PMI increased slightly but remained deep in contraction territory, the survey showed.
The benchmark DAX was down 57 points, or 0.4 percent, at 15,515 after losing 1.3 percent in the previous session.

Australia GDP Growth Accelerates In Q2
The Australian economy expanded at a faster pace in the second quarter after severe weather events damped activity in the preceding quarter, data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed on Wednesday. Gross domestic product growth doubled to 0.6 percent in the June quarter from 0.3 percent in the March period. The rate also exceeded economists' forecast of 0.5 percent.

China Service Sector Growth Improves In August
China's service sector growth accelerated in August driven by the strong upturn in new orders, survey data from S&P Global showed on Wednesday. The headline RatingDog services Purchasing Managers' Index rose unexpectedly to 53.0 in August from 52.6 in July. Economists expect the indicator to fall to 52.4. The rate of increase was the fastest seen since May 2024.
