You're not the only one with this problem - i have FXCM MT4 build 765 - I also re-installed Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 but still got the "unhandled exception 0xE0434F4D" error.Any ideas guys?

FXCM probably has the best website from all brokers for help/info/training/market analysis etc; - lets face it all brokers have their problems - these guys do have slippage & requotes mainly in fast moving markets the same as other brokers. General rule of thumb is pay higher spreads for instant execution (like Forex.com) - it is very difficult or impossible to get the best of both worlds this is how brokers get that little bit extra out of you.Beware 10pm (GMT) on FXCM!! Some good discussion here guys. BellaVista is correct in that price will retest previous levels a very high percentage of the time. No matter how diligent you have been in your technical analysis in setting up a trade price, will typically retrace between 10 - 20 pips to go back the other way and retest a previous level. This is why you should never get in a trade with your maximum position size..because it could keep going in the other direction! I agree. It was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek question because when we all start out as newbie's this is what happens in reality i.e we go short with all good intent and the market goes the other way.

It's well known that most retail traders don't make money in Forex. Very simply put, the market goes in the other direction to your intended trade & it's happened to me many times! Has anybody in this forum done a controlled study where the other side of the intended trade is taken? So if you fancy a long position just go short instead. If so it would be interesting to see the results.(Please don't start a discussion about hedging as it is a different strategy.)

Ray, this is a very good question and one I have asked certainly from the last 2 contests. The last winner had >$5.5million equity after a month's trading!! Now these guys obviously do possess a great skill simply from the point of view of win/loss ratio. We all know in contests that much greater risks are taken than trading a live account but even so with the skill these guys have + whatever strategy it is they are using I would have thought that doubling a live account in 1 month would be relatively easy by simply taking the lowest risks trades. This is one of the best threads I have ever read so thanks for getting it started James Bond.I have been trading for 3 years, done a couple of pro training courses, lost money (of course) but I want to go full time next year. It's a daunting feeling but I'm sure the feedom will be worth it. Patience is the hardest part of trading - I would rather wait for low risk trades, only take 10 trades per month (400 pips total) @$10/pip - this is pretty much what I need to live on.Good luck to everyone.

It's interesting that most retail traders are in the same position..95% to be precise! I have spoken to very few successful retail traders in the past and the one attribute they have (which I don't) is PATIENCE. Overtrading and not waiting for the right set up is a common failing because of course we all want to get rich quick. I have thought many times when I watch price going in the opposite direction to my trade why I just didn't take the opposite position to what I originally thought. I would be rich by now! Thanks for the replies and advice guys. I guess the other main question for me is do you know a good consistent trader managing a PAMM or MAM account? I know I can go and look at performance figures on broker's web sites but this isn't the same as a recommendation from 'real' people. Any suggestions appreciated.
