Hi Birt,
I really appreciate you scaling back MDP to be 'useful' for others. Seriously, we get very similar returns each day and I am using a very popular broker, but with a VPS obviously. So your estimation of average I think is spot on.
One question if I may birt:
You mentioned earlier in this thread about setting up a bridge for serious trading. Can you point me to any articles you found useful with this?
Thanks in advance, and thanks for being honest, and generous with your time.
Best,
Dale

Is this a extended thread on MDP? Out of 20 members, only 5 had profits today. 2 were version 1.1.6 and 3 were version 2.0

Im looking for winning trends.... also comparing servers on our broker.

It's a niche that's way too small to have articles. If your trading capital is below several hundred thousand, you probably shouldn't bother.

If you want to look into it some more, you will have to contact the bridge software vendors and I can enumerate a few: gold-i, primexm, b2bits, boston technologies, divisa/currenex, integral.

Thanks heaps Birt. I would have been dealing with just under 100 thou.
So you are likely right, more hassle than for what its worth. I just love your PrivateFX idea, where one can deal without being manipulated one way or another....

Is Hard_Stop_Trailing set to True or False? If set to false as you mention ('Stop Orders, Hard Stop Trailing and AutoAdjust_ECN are set to false'), then would the trades exit only when hit the original SL or TP?

On the contrary, it exits programatically instead of exiting by SL/TP. They're all set to false as I mentioned.

I have Hard_Stop_Trailing set to True on my account, yet the trades exit like yours (trailing stop). So I wonder what would make this ea to exit only by initial SL and TP, whichever hits first.

Mine uses soft closing, for example:
2012.02.15 19:29:01 MillionDollarPipsEURUSD_1.2.0 EURUSD,M1: 3: Closing Soft Stop SELL

I don't think it's even possible to only close by stop loss and take profit. The manual explains the settings quite well. StopOrders will make it enter via stop orders, HardStopTrailing will use a stops loss and will use a trailing stop while AutoAdjustECN simply lets the two settings above be adjusted as seems best for your brokerage.

I have been watching this link for a couple of months https://www.myfxbook.com/members/shadowmt/alpari-nz-ndd/122198

In the past, trade history was open so I could see that these trades were from MDP. I found interesting is that the trades only exited by original TP or SL. And it's doing well on Alpari Russian. But the owner of the account never replied to any question whatsoever.

Might just be a modified version or perhaps there is a way to do it by changing the settings that I am not aware about. You should probably ask support.

Birt, is this MDP 1.2? I heard somewhere that mdp1.16 is more conservative. Mdp1.1.6 can set risk to 2-3% compare to mdp1.2, Is it true? What do u think?

Yes, it's 1.2.0. You can set the risk as high as you wish in both of them, the difference being that the default is higher in 1.2.0 if I remember correctly.

Hi Birt, thanks for the reply, I have seen a member did a backtest on both version. Here is the link (https://forums.babypips.com/expert-advisors-automated-trading/39243-million-dollar-pips-58.html) post at #572. The back test show that 1.16 ver more conservative and is profitable too.

I don't have an account there so I can't check them out but if he used the default settings it's perfectly normal seeing that 1.2.0 comes with a higher default risk.

Here is the snapshot i took. It seems that the drawdown is higher for 1.2version. It is a Backtest data from 1-Jan-2011 to 1-Jan-2012.

To be honest, those backtests are rather poorly done. Most likely the spread is different or something like that.

Ic, thanks for that information. I'm currently using mdp1.2 and my account have Leveraging 1:500. Can i set risk to 5%? Is it safe?
I can't do the backtest because my broker do not have ECN data. Thanks is advance.

5 is likely too much and might result in a margin call depending on your other settings. If you look at the comments on https://eareview.net/live-forward-test, I made some observations regarding risk and leverage in an older comment.

As for backtesting, you can do that regardless of whether the broker is ECN or not. Keep in mind that MDP will very likely not work well on a fixed spread broker.

Hi birt,

Nice to see that you guys are still cracking away on the MDP :) ... just wanted to ask if you have u seen anyone launch this on dukascopy via the FTT (T3) bridge?, do you think it has any chance of success on that broker?
I dont really like launching any commercial EA's, only my own ones.. at least i know how it works :) ...but now was possibly thinking of adding this MDP bugger on the account:)

thanks

Justin

Haven't heard from anyone doing that, but that Fair Trading Tech bridge has insane per-trade costs so I can see why people shy away from it.
